How much does a small business website cost in 2026?
Real ranges for do-it-yourself builders, freelancers and agencies, what you get at each price, and what Kingpin Sites charges.
The short answer
For a simple site for a local business, you will see three price ranges. Do-it-yourself builders like Wix or Squarespace cost roughly $15 to $40 a month for their business plans, plus your own time to build and maintain it. Freelancers usually charge somewhere between a few hundred dollars and a few thousand for a small site, depending on how many pages and how much custom design. Agencies generally start in the thousands and go up from there. Prices change, so treat these as typical ranges, not quotes.
Kingpin Sites charges $499 one time for a one-page website on your own .com, a logo, and your Google Business Profile set up, with the first year of hosting included. From year two, hosting is $150 a year and covers your domain renewal and small text changes.
What you actually pay for
- Domain name: your address, like yourcompany.com. Usually $10 to $20 a year. Ours is included.
- Hosting: the server that keeps the site online. Anywhere from $5 to $50 a month for typical small sites. Included in our first year, then part of the $150.
- Design and writing: the biggest part of any quote. This is where the difference between $499 and $5,000 comes from: number of pages, custom photos, extra features.
- Updates: hours change, prices change, you add a service. Some companies charge per change; we include small text changes.
What a one-page site can and can't do
For most local businesses, one good page does the job: what you do, where you work, photos, a phone number that dials when tapped, and a quote form. It cannot be an online store, a booking system or a big multi-page site. If you need those, tell us before you order and we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.
Three-year cost, side by side
Kingpin Sites over three years: $499 + $150 + $150 = $799. A builder plan at $25 a month over three years is about $900, plus the hours you spend building it yourself. A freelancer at $1,500 plus $10 a month hosting is about $1,860. None of these numbers include add-ons like ads or ongoing marketing.
How to decide
Ask three questions: Do customers look for my kind of business on Google? Do I have time to build and maintain a site myself? Do I need more than one page? If the answers are yes, no, no, a $499 one-page site is usually the right size. And since we build a free preview first, you can decide after you see it.
Free preview within one business day. $499 once if you like it.
