What local SEO means

It means showing up when someone near you searches for what you do: "roof repair Tampa", "movers near me", "house cleaning Denver". Two places matter: the map results at the top and the normal results below.

1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile

Correct business name, one main category that matches your work, your phone number, your service area or address, hours, and photos. Fill in every field. Step-by-step guide.

2. Have a website that says what you do and where

Put the service and the city in the page title and the first heading. "Roof repair and replacement in Tampa, FL" is clear to customers and to Google.

3. Keep name, address and phone identical everywhere

The same business name and phone on your site, your Google listing, Facebook, and any directory. Mismatches make Google less sure the listings are the same business.

4. One page per main service

A separate page for each service you want calls for (drain cleaning, water heaters) lets Google match the right page to the right search.

5. Earn real reviews

Ask every happy customer. Reply to each review. Never buy or fake reviews; Google removes them and can penalize the listing. How to ask.

6. Make it work on a phone

Most local searches happen on phones. A big call button, a short form and fast pages matter more than design tricks.

7. List the business in a few trusted directories

Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp and your industry association. Use the exact same details every time.

What to expect

Local rankings take weeks to months, not days. Consistent basics beat tricks.
